The Family:

This Cambridge family had lived in their home for many years. The house was filled with wonderful memories. The children had married and were beginning families of their own.

The Renovation Challenge:

The rooms in the home were small and dark, creating a challenge to host family gatherings. The home owners also wanted a bright, cheerful family room to enjoy some private time. The view of their beautiful country lot was limited from the small windows.

The wonderful combination of a cathedral ceiling highlighted with salvaged wood beams from the old barn on the property, numerous large windows, 2 patio doors and attractive trapezoid windows has created the warm, open environment the family was looking for. The large opening between the new addition and the existing Dining Room helps to open up the entire main floor. The beautiful gardens & their country property are now blended into their newly renovated family room and can be enjoyed all year round – by themselves and with their growing family.
