The Family:

These clients live in a great Kitchener 1970’s home and have young teenagers who wanted a space for gaming and watching movies

The Renovation Challenge:

In their basement, the homeowners wanted an exercise area, a second bathroom with shower, a fresh feel to the laundry area and an inviting space for their growing children to spend time gaming and watching movies. They also were in dire need of storage space. Not knowing what was possible they called on Pioneer Craftsmen Ltd for renovation design ideas.

The damp, paneled basement was transformed into a comfortable, purposeful space that fits this family and their lifestyle perfectly.

First we listened, brainstormed, and considered our client’s needs. It was obvious that every inch of the basement space needed to be put to work. Before long we had some exciting design concepts to present. Three-dimensional drawings and associated renovation costs were presented before a construction contract was signed so the homeowner could get a feel for the possibilities.

The Family Room now has an inviting, main floor feel with attractive colour & texture choices. Additional storage space was created under the stairwell. A bench with storage and large mirror above reflecting light was built into what was an awkward space behind the stairwell.

The basement bathroom incorporates angles making great use of space. The laundry room with ample storage is now a pleasure to be in. Simply painting the floor, gives a bright and clean look and feel. As an added bonus, we even found a perfect spot for a small bar area, with space to display glassware.

Our clients and their family are thrilled with their increased living space and love spending time in their bright, inviting basement.
