A Mid-Century Kitchen, Reimagined for Today

For this family of three, the kitchen was the heart of their home, but its outdated layout and disconnected spaces did not support how they cook, host, and gather. The goal was to open the space, improve flow, and honour the home’s original 1970s mid-century character while enhancing functionality.

The Pioneer Design-Build Solution
The transformation began by removing dividing walls to create a bright, open-concept space. A vaulted ceiling and skylights introduced natural light, complementing warm walnut cabinetry and a clean, mid-century aesthetic.
The layout was reimagined for function, including a large double-depth island for gathering, prep, and cooking. A former workshop became a practical mudroom, while clever cabinetry solutions maximized storage without compromising simplicity.
Despite structural challenges, advanced scanning and thoughtful problem-solving ensured a seamless result.
