The renovation challenge
The combination of the existing kitchen windows, distinct flooring separation lines, single-person patio door and a visually awkward support post with a half-wall hampered the options to expand the kitchen footprint.Willing to forego the dinette, the client and designer established a plan that included a spacious 6-seater island instead. The game-changer was the relocation of the window openings to create satisfying symmetry within the kitchen and the creation of a bar peninsula was a creative solution to visually delineate this open concept plan, incorporating the support post within the tower design.Considering the large footprint of the ensuite, the original shower was dark and small, and the corner tub heavily weighed down the room. The location of the powder room just past the main entry of the home inspired a desire for some architectural drama that would also pair well with the clients own chosen vanity.

the family
Following a long separation due to Covid, the time came for family and friends to gather again. This client yearned for a truly great entertaining space with a seamless flow between indoor areas, while creating a more welcoming invitation to their beautiful backyard patio.
The Pioneer Design-Build Solution
Blending the kitchen cupboard detail with the feature clock wall significantly expanded the visual appearance of the kitchen instead of abruptly ending the space at the pantry. The crisp white features up top and along the fridge wall, balanced with the grounding element of deep charcoal down below, the corner of the base cabinets were intentionally separated by color, also lending to a beautiful bookended finish to the entire space matching the bar peninsula. Custom drawers and storage provide ample secure space to house the most essential kitchen tools and supplies.Adding bright elegance to the primary ensuite was a rewarding design challenge! We considered the closets that transitioned into the ensuite as part of the whole flow which lent space for a larger shower and luxurious bathtub setup.By dropping the ceiling over the sink alcove in the powder room, the elegant tile backdrop has become an eye-catching feature for the client and their guests to swoon over.
